Courses

• Maltese classes by the government (Malta)

Very cheap, on many locations in Malta and Gozo. Many levels. Usually from October till June. Click on the English version on the right above if in Maltese. Check also for possible free lessons at your local council.

• Course at the German-Maltese circle (in English, Malta). High price, not sure about quality. Informal language, for beginners, no course materials.

• The Maltese culture movement (London), course starts in January for beginners.

1. Official Online Maltese dictionary: Roots, conjugations and related Maltese words. With translations. Mind to search with the right letters.
2. Online Maltese dictionary number 2: Complete: the best I've found so far. With translations.
3. Google Translate: Not accurate, but good for entire sentences or pages.

• A free app covering the basics of Maltese (here are other apps).
• Flashcards for the Maltese language.
• Maltese books in libraries

A list of libraries around Malta. You can borrow books there for free. If you’re a beginner, try the children’s books. Some are a bit old and small, but the people are generally nice. 

• Skype lessons ($10 bonus)

This site is all about finding teachers to teach you a language via Skype, along with some other resources. 

• Facebook Group for beginners.
• Easy posts to learn the basics of the tenses in Maltese: the past, the present, the future and the present continuous!
• A keyboard to type with Maltese letters.
• Basic phrases for travellers.

For advanced students:

• Some news organisations in Maltese only, the first three are affiliated to the Maltese political parties: Netnews, Malta Right Now, l-Orrizont, Newsbook. 
• TVM is my favourite, check out the live television.

• Malta Right Now and One Malta TV are on Facebook as well.
• Short Facebook stories: Stories written in both proper Maltese and English. It’s regularly updated and easy to follow. 
• Find Maltese radio stations on TuneIn.
• Some easy expressions. 

For experts:

• Facebook group. This Facebook group answers questions of the Maltese themselves, so it’s quite high-level.

• Here’s two Facebook groups with short sayings. Here's the other.
• Maltese expressions.
• There are many Youtube channels with series in Maltese, including DeeMedia, fLiving Media, DivertmentMalti, KlassiGhalinaFans, Soraya Queen, Simpatici Malta, OneNews and Net Television.
